About the Wyoming School District Scorecard

The Wyoming School District Scorecard was created to give parents, taxpayers, educators, and policymakers a clear and transparent view of school district performance using publicly available information.

The Scorecard uses results reported by the Wyoming Department of Education, including academic assessment, accountability, graduation, ACT, financial, and staffing information.

Unlike many ranking systems, the Wyoming School District Scorecard does not rank districts against one another. A comparison between districts can show that one district performed better than another, but it does not necessarily show whether either district’s results are strong. A district should not appear successful merely because another district performed worse.

Instead, the Scorecard presents each district’s reported results across three major areas:

  • Academic Scores
  • Financial and Staffing Indicators
  • Accountability Ratings.

For selected percentage-based metrics, it also shows where the reported result would fall on a traditional grading scale. This provides a consistent frame of reference for understanding the percentage itself rather than judging the district only in comparison with other districts.

The letter grade does not replace or change the reported result or represent an official state rating for the district.

Traditional Grading Scale Used for Reference

A: 90% and above
B: 80–89%
C: 70–79%
D: 60–69%
F: Below 60%

This reference scale is used only for selected percentage-based metrics. Other measures, including ACT scores, graduation rates, financial figures, staffing information, and state accountability ratings, are reported in their original form.
