The Wyoming Education Association (WEA) is the state affiliate of the National Education Association (NEA), a major D.C.-based lobbying organization.
Rather than serving teachers, and improving classroom results, the WEA operates as a powerful political pressure group in Cheyenne—successfully pushing legislation and budgets that have contributed to:
- 25% higher per-pupil spending since 2011
- As much as a 24% decline in 8th-grade reading proficiency
- Continued declines in overall test scores
The WEA/NEA apparatus prioritizes bureaucratic growth, political influence, and radical cultural priorities over student performance.
The result: higher costs for parents and taxpayers, while student performance continues to decline.
